standard aftercare

• 2 hours after your tattoo is finished, remove the bandage and wash your tattoo with warm water and the recommended soap that we offer at Ghostfire. Wash your tattoo gently using only your hands

• 48 hours after your tattoo is finished, apply a thin layer of the recommended lotion that we offer at Ghostfire 2-3 times daily with clean hands.

• Tattoos typically take about 30 days to heal. Keep your tattoo clean. Do not submerge underwater (no lakes, pools, oceans, etc.). Once healed, protect your tattoo with reef safe sunblock during outdoor activities
  

aftercare with tegaderm

• Tegaderm holds in the body’s natural moisture and healing enzymes, allowing the body to heal in the most efficient manner possible. After skin has been injured, healing elements are produced to help break down dead tissue and rebuild new tissue.

• Under normal circumstances, these healing elements dry up and evaporate which reduces their effectiveness. When this happens, longer healing times are required and scabbing and scarring occur. Tegaderm locks in these healing elements and allows the skin to continue to function as normal because the bandage is breathable.

• You will leave your Tegaderm on for 3-5 dats, depending on your artist’s recommendation. Tegaderm is great because it is low maintenance and can reduce healing time. It is water resistant, so you can shower with it on, but try to keep it out of the water as much as possible and keep soaps away from it.

• It is normal for the Tegaderm to fill with plasma tinted black/brown by the ink. If the fluid starts to leak out or a foreign substance gets trapped under the bandage, carefully remove it, wash your tattoo, and maintain regular aftercare.

• Removing Tegaderm in the shower will be your best bet. Be sure to slowly roll or pull it away from your skin; DO NOT rip it off like a Band-Aid. Carefully clean the tattoo with the recommended soap that we offer at Ghostfire. Follow up with a thin layer of the recommended lotion that we offer at Ghostfire.

• After the Tegaderm has been removed and your tattoo is clean, the tattoo will begin to peel within the next couple of days. DO NOT pick or scratch. You will want to wash it 1-2x a dat and keep it moisturized. Once healed, protect your tattoo with reef safe sunblock during outdoor activities.
